About What's Real
Today, another Sunday like any other day.
The house is quiet, empty, winter is coming and only the sound of the keys on the laptop clacking breaks the quiet.
Today it is time to get back to my passion which is blogging, yes it has been a while.
Three years to be exact, soon will be to the day since my husband passed away.
Time to start writing again... about what's real ..
There is so much that is unspoken, hidden.... the thoughts we don't say.
There are so many ...I think I see more clearly now.
Funny when your life is full you don't seem to notice those who go unseen.
I found there were very few support groups, very few places to go and NOONE to talk to about that awful word, even my doctor called it the C word.
Those of us who are left behind, we just go on ... surviving but in the course of surviving it gave me different eyes to see others also just surviving, going through the motions.
I ran into a young man, someone I knew from my kids. Depression can happen to anyone, any age.
You would never know it to talk to him, on the outside he seemed the same as he always did.
Before, probably I wouldn't have taken the extra time to pry. The cheery greeting and quick hello, the few words said and I would have hurried on, never seeing past the smile.
New eyes ...
Come to find out he had lost his family and kids , after a fight her mom quickly convinced her to leave the state and bring the grandkids....things just spiraled downhill for him after that, lost the two jobs he was working.....looking at him you wouldn't think that he was homeless living in a small stretch of woods. As the situation of getting his family back became more and more hopeless ...trying to apply for a new job he found out he had an outstanding warrent. No job opportunities, homeless, hungry, hooked and looking at jail....
This is a bright, funny hard working young man always looking after his family and friends.
Depression
The subject no one talks about....
Look around, offer a meal, lend an ear....maybe you have some odd jobs you haven't gotten to and really don't feel like doing that you can afford to pay a few dollars...
We are all our brother's keepers....
That's my blog for today.
